Finally,                                                      A Tax System That Makes Sense!
Were there underlying causes to the 2008-2009 recession?

At the root of our nation's financial problems may be a tax structure that taxes different types of income differently, such as taxing capital gains lower than regular income. This uneven taxation likely tilts the economic playing field and distorts the economy. It's very likely that this uneven taxation was a contributing factor in both the Great Depression and the 2008-2009 recession.

Suggested in the book, "Free Markets At Home" are ways to gradually change the tax structure to level the playing field for the working person, strengthen Social Seecurity and Medicare, have more affordable health care, reduce the need to adjust interest rates, and make the economy stronger.

The current federal tax system is evaluated along with a wide range of other types of tax methods including sales taxes. Then practical tax changes are suggested that gradually move the tax structure toward taxing different types of income the same and slowly reducing many tax deductions.

A new health care structure is also considered that gets nearly everyone in the system, has competitive pricing, and allows people to keep their current health coverage. Even with a national health care plan, it could be possible some states could be allowed to try an alternative health care plan. If that is the case, a health care structure, as suggested in this book, could be considered.
